While many of you are aware of radio contests (online drawings or on-the-air contests), I would bet that very few of you are aware of the culture of Facebook sweepstakes. Did you know that some companies with Facebook fan pages ask you to “like” their profiles and then they allow you to enter their sweepstakes? Well, all you need is a Facebook profile to begin!
First, log into Facebook, and click on the box to “Search for people, places and things.” Type “sweepstakes” and you should see an application appear with a four-leaf clover. That is THE Sweepstakes app that you should use. When you click on the app, you can then decide to sort the thousands of promotions by sweepstakes, contests, quizzes, or coupons. I would recommend that you select “Sweepstakes.” Then, you can sort by the most popular, most recently added, top prizes, or the prizes ending soon.
Note that you will sometimes get notified that you did not win the sweepstake, but if you ever receive a “congratulations” e-mail, chances are you won something! Going to this sweepstakes app is a collection of many different Facebook sweepstakes all in one place instead of going to your favorite company’s page to find one sweepstake at a time. Unlike the radio contests, most of the Facebook sweepstakes are national sweepstakes. At the same time, the more you enter, the better chances of you winning one (or more) of them. Since March, I have won sixteen national sweepstakes (check out my previous blog entry here to read about a trip I won this way) yet it has taken less than 30 seconds each time I have entered one. Definitely worth the time invested!
